The Nikon 50mm 1.4 lens comes in two forms – the 1.4D and the 1.4G. In this post we shall discuss the specifications of the 1.4D lens which is the older of the two lenses, but is still widely available. The lens has an autofocus feature that you can use in high end Nikon digital SLR cameras. You cannot use that feature in entry level cameras such as the D40 or the D60 or even the D3100. The lens is compatible with all kinds of cameras and you can use it with cropped sensor, full frame or even film cameras. This lens has seven blade diaphragms. The lens weighs only 230 g and can be easily used for street photography in handheld mode. The lens works well even in less than ideal light conditions and gives excellent images no matter what aperture settings you use and is an overall good all purpose lens fro professionals.
